A family story, over 50 years of Belgian expertise.
From a first technical chemistry specialist to an integrated industrial group: the companies, brands and awards that shaped Bechems Group, today united in Tournai.
A family business that became an industrial group.
The story of Bechems Group is that of a Belgian entrepreneurial family which, company after company, brought the formulation, manufacturing and marketing of cleaning solutions together under one roof.
It began with independent businesses, each specialised in its own field: technical chemistry, biological agents, professional cleaning. Bringing them together step by step created a complete value chain, from the laboratory to the shelf.
Today that story continues around two complementary companies - Chembo for the industrial platform, Bevil for the own brands - united on the Tournai-Blandain site.
The milestones that shaped us.

Spechim
A technical chemistry specialist is born
Spechim is founded, dedicated to high-value technical formulations for demanding industries. A niche expertise that would join the group decades later.
Bevil
Bevil is founded
The company Bevil is created, initially based in Wavre. It would go on to specialise in biological agents for cleaning and odour neutralisation.
Mondo
Mondo Chemicals is acquired
Jean-Pierre Boulez takes over Mondo Chemicals, then a small business based in Boom, in Flanders.

Handover
Mondo entrusted to Coralie Boulez
Jean-Pierre Boulez hands the management of Mondo to his daughter Coralie, who would buy out the shares outright in 1996. Operations later move to Perwez, in Walloon Brabant.

Chembo
Chembo is created in Tournai
Jean-Pierre Boulez creates Chembo in the Blandain industrial estate, following the centralisation and merger of several production sites. It is the group's industrial foundation.

Industrialisation
A fully automated production area
A new fully automatic production area and a liquid filling line come on stream, laying the foundations of today's industrial capacity.
Bevil
Bevil joins the family group
Jean-Pierre Boulez acquires Bevil, which becomes the group's commercial arm, while Chembo retains its role as the manufacturing hub.

Powders & innovation
New powder line and an innovation award
The powder manufacturing and packing area is installed, the same year the group's expertise is recognised with an innovation award in biotechnology.
Second generation
The family succession
On the passing of Jean-Pierre Boulez, founder of Chembo, his eldest daughter Coralie Boulez takes over the family business and continues to grow it.

Award
Trends-Tendances Gazelle Award
Chembo is recognised for the strongest growth in the province of Hainaut.

Spechim
Spechim joins the group
Acquiring Spechim, then based in Waterloo, strengthens research and technical formulation capabilities. Operations are later brought together in a new building in Gembloux.

Award
Greener Packaging Award
The FILLIT cap concept wins the Greener Packaging Award from Fost-Plus and ValiPac, recognising a leaner approach to packaging.

Award
Product of the Year for Epur
The Epur drain unblocker is voted Product of the Year, confirming how well biological formulations resonate with consumers.

Bevil
The move into e-commerce
Bevil moves onto the marketplaces, from Amazon to Bol.com, and builds a dedicated marketing team to bring its brands to consumers.

Award
Gold Award at the Natexpo trade fair
Epur's dilutable powder sachets win a Gold Award at Natexpo: less water shipped, less packaging, the same effectiveness.

Strategy
Refocusing on the industrial core
Mondo's small-scale distribution business is transferred to ProEquip, for which the group becomes the preferred supplier. Efforts concentrate on formulation, manufacturing and large-scale partnerships.

Brands
AntiSplash joins the portfolio
Bevil acquires the AntiSplash brand, completing the group's portfolio of own brands.

Bechems Group
Two companies, one integrated chain
The group is built around Chembo, its industrial platform for private label, and Bevil, which carries the group's own brands, including Fulgurant, Epur, AntiSplash and Mondo. The technical formulation expertise inherited from Spechim is today part of the Tournai-Blandain laboratories.
